Our consultancy offer
MAP has held FCA accreditation for delivering regulated debt counselling and adjusting since 2014, and the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) for providing Money and Pension Service (MaPS) standard debt advice since 2012. Last year, we passed with no corrective actions. We maintain an internal quality manual and hold the Helpline Partnership Standard. The AQS is embedded in our working practices.
MAP has fully embedded MaPS Debt Advice Standard to ensure compliance with FCA-regulated activity, consumer duty, and good practices for delivering debt advice. Our debt advice delivery is integrated into front-line services, staffing recruitment and retention, training, and case supervision.
MAP devised the Economic Abuse Evidence Form (EAEF), currently piloted in partnership with Surviving Economic Abuse across financial services, utilities, and the debt advice sector. With support from UK Finance, it is being rolled out to 30 new firms in 2024-2025. We are actively working with HMRC and the Local Government Association to further develop our economic abuse toolkits, which Money Advice Plus helped develop.
We offer expert consultancy to help set up a regulated debt advice service, ensuring it is independent and confidential. This provides reassurance and support for regulators and customers, enabling clear boundaries for advice and transparency in service.
Our consultancy services include:
- Establishing the status of current policies, procedures, and documents, and making recommendations
- Developing a quality manual
- Creating a framework for an internal annual self-assessment to ensure compliance with regulated advice and consumer duty
- Creating a case supervision and file review procedure
